Welcome to Monday everyone. It's amazing, I get older and slower and the athletes just keep getting stronger and faster. The weekend must have been a good one because everyone came back and just crushed this workout. Since your humble narrator was still out of breath from his WOD, Jakey boy took care of the warmup (Jake's ability to coach the warmup, in particular the reverse arm rotation, is simply unsurpassed).
Everything started as usual, with Susan telling me that she had to scale the weight, only to be able to lift it with perfect form upon her first try. ("I'm just trying to survive the summer without hating you and CrossFit." "Susan, if you end up hating me but keep improving… I'm ok with that.") Camilo stepped up and did the big kid's weight today along with Mark and Dylan. His days of using smaller weights might just be over after some of his recent WODs. Cindy and Susan swapped deadlift bars since one was slightly lighter and they were both adamant about each wanting the heavier bar. It was amazing, I thought there might be blood as both of them requested, nay.. dare I say demanded, the heavier bar. Fortunately, everything we needed to learn in CrossFit we learned in pre-school (ok, except maybe the olympic lifting) so sharing is caring and we saved the bleeding for the WOD.
Once the buzzer went off, it was glorious to see everyone hustling at once. We used every bar in the place and almost all the bumper plates, just spectacular! Both Dylan and Mark caugh a no-rep or two on the deads as they were caughtt short of full extension, but their overall form was good. Camilo looked solid, he just has to keep that back from rounding when he gets tired. Alex had the same issue, but considering how fresh he is the kid is making astounding progress. Using proportionally the same weight he actually beat everyone today! Lest I forget, Jess has taken it up a notch recently and watching her deadlifts improve was quite satisfying. I don't care if it's her Paleo diet or she's gained super-powers after sitting in front of the microwave for too long, whatever it is… it's working.
Then they brought out the (cough, cough… uh Paleo, I'm sure) cake. All I could think of was… "Hm… I wonder how many burpees it's going to take to burn off that cake." Fortunately, we still have all week to find out. Thank you everyone.
