Jordan – Viper rope climber and dips

 

Tuesday brought with it another beautiful day. Hot, but no longer blistering. Yesterday was pulling, today was pushing. but first, we did a warmup.

Susan came in all stoked today. I'm wondering if she's messing with me. Normally she likes to pretend that she's having a hard time or isn't sure she can do something (although we all know she can, and does) but today she came in and just looked like she was going to steam-roll. Tell you what, after watching her push-press that weight overhead with machine-like precision, that's exactly what she did.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves. The workout said overhead press. It didn't matter how they did it, but they had to get the weight from the ground to overhead. Cleaning it once and then pressing / push-pressing / push-jerking the weight up as many times as possible was fair game.

When the timer went off, everyone got moving. I remember when we started doing cleans how Cindy would get frustrated with her form. Those days are gone, now the weight just comes up. I'm not saying every lift was perfect but nobody had anything to be ashamed of. Dylan seemed to be in the zone, his last round was actually his fastest. Mark and Camilo are normally pretty evenly matched but today Mark seemed to have a little extra something in his tank, apparently he ate his Wheaties this morning.

Jordan's knee is improving but there's no reason to rush. Besides… at this rate, she's going to have a kipping pullup pretty soon.

Brian did the steer the boat warmup with the rest of the group. Then we busted out and learned/practiced DL, Press and Push Press. Brian is obviously an analytical and spent a lot of time getting the technique perfect. I screwed him up coaching him. Did better just getting the cues and going crazy with the movement. In a month Brian is going to have the best mechanics in the group.
