Jake’s 20+ years of training experience began in high school when he was looking for sparing partners for Golden Gloves. While sidelined with an injury in 2007, he found CrossFit and spent a week trying to figure out who Fran was. He then spent the next 3 months watching and reading everything about CrossFit, which was easy since the majority of the CrossFit community was online back then. Jake made himself at home by becoming the “GodFather” of the FRAT. You can here more about his antics on CrossFit radio
His first workout was the Filthy Fifty; it was a nightmare and naturally he was hooked. He started training his MMA/Kickboxing friends in a local park. Too many people showed up and the park kicked them out. So they moved to a friends garage. Too many people showed up there and a friendly neighbor called the city. So the Tribe moved to a crappy warehouse that was hidden better than Batman’s Cave. In December of 2011 they moved to the north west corner of Kyrene & Chandler tripling the amount of space the family have to train.

Tony started his fitness life diving since he was thirteen and throughout college. He came into CrossFit world five years ago and have been with Tribal family for four years. “Crossfit has truly changed my life physically and mentally,” he states simply. He is thorough and detail oriented with his training style and even at five in the morning, he is full of energy. He will encourage you as he even does the WOD with you, and will be genuinely happy for the progress you make.
Levi is a dedicated athlete who believes that with hard work and belief in yourself, anything is possible. He achieved his Level 1 Trainer Certificate in May of 2013 and hasn’t looked back since. He actively trains for upcoming competitions, and you will rarely see him out of “beast mode” (CrossFit jargon) as he dresses for the part as well. He is patient and structured with his coaching, and you can always count on him for steady words of encouragement.
Brandon marched four years with The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps playing the trumpet from 2006-2009. The Academy lead him to where he is today and started his passion for fitness. It also guided him into getting a degree in Exercise and Wellness from Arizona State University (graduated on December 16th, 2011). After aging out in 2009, Brandon had a goal of running a marathon. January 17th, 2010 he ran his first marathon in 4:41:28 hitting a wall on mile 16. During training, he was reading database articles and learned that there was something better than just running long distance. Brandon found CrossFit and CrossFit Endurance searching through the Internet.

Joe is just a small town boy, living in a world full of fitness, took a midnight train to west coast early this year and ended up in AZ. He started his journey in Crossfit in 2008 after his friend showed him some YouTube clips of it. Not thinking much of the sport [don't we all at one point] he ventured into this addictive lifestyle with Fran and that was pretty much done deal for him. His coaching style is patient and detailed, and you will have to stay alert for subtle moments that makes you stop and go, “wait….”
He is currently in the battle of luscious hair with Jake (see above) to which he attributes all his success in Crossfit. He is incapable of growing facial hair, but if he could, he would be unstoppable.

Mickey has been a part of the Tribal family for almost three years. You know he is in the building because there will be comments of, “hey dude, nice shoes!” He is the cool, calm, and collected one of the bunch, and his methodical and steady coaching style will encourage you through a WOD no matter how your day has been.
